Yesterday I updated CCleaner . . . After updating CCleaner I had a problem with my computer...so I went to my Programs & Features and uninstalled CCleaner. But I saw AVG Anti Virus Free on my Programs & Features (dated March 3,2020)....and it is ready for free Setup. I do not want AVG Anti Virus Free and prefer Avira Security Free. I tried to uninstall AVG Anti Virus Free Setup but it will not uninstall...
Any advice please....I am not going to use CCleaner any more because the try and add things I don't need. I am usually careful and check before installing the updates from CCleaner. I have been reading lots of negative things about CCleaner....
Thank You

You shouldn't have to uninstall it because it is not installed. You should be able to just delete it.

I cannot delete or uninstall the AVG Anti Virus Free Setup from my Programs/Features. Should I restore my computer to an earlier date?

I cannot delete or uninstall the AVG Anti Virus Free Setup from my Programs/Features. Should I restore my computer to an earlier date? Absolutely not! If you do that you will cause many more problems than having an unopened file on your computer. A restore is always the LAST thing you should do and that should be done ONLY when the computer has been changed to a point where it is difficult to use. Do a search on your computer for the actual location of the file and delete it from there. I say again, it is Not installed. That is a set up file only and it has not been used. It will do Nothing unless you choose to install it. Go to where ever your downloads go and delete it from there. But just having it on your computer will do nothing. Where did you get your CCleaner download from?

Finally I was able to uninstall AVG Anti Virus Free Setup from my Programs/Features. I don't like the idea that CCleaner downloaded this AVG to my computer. Thanks again. I have never restored my computer ever! Never a dull moment....you have to keep on your toes at all times....

I have never restored my computer ever! Never a dull moment....you have to keep on your toes at all times.... This was downloaded because you didn't look at the opening page to see that it was offered with a checkmark in to include it. It is up to the users to read everything before installing any software. This happens with many, many pieces of free software, not just CCleaner which has offered extras for years with their downloads, this isn't new. If you don't read everything then you could get something you didn't ask for.
It would have been nice if you had explained how you did remove this because AVG is not the only thing offered with CCleaner, Avast may be offered, Chrome is the usual offering and has been for many, many years. Other people would be helped if you had given that information.

Believe me.... I usually do check and make sure it does not download Google, Anti Virus. etc etc...but for some reason I did not see any offers on this new update. As for how I finally was able to remove AVG..I found the uninstalled on the bottom of the screen...I had to move the screen up. I must say I do try my best....it is not easy, but thank you for always helping and advising me.

Thanks Marie. Generally those extras are in tiny print at the very bottom of the install screen and ARE easy to miss. I updated my CCleaner yesterday and was offered Chrome.

I am very surprised CCleaner offered AVG as it is owned by Avast. I updated it yesterday. I was not offered anything. I do have Chrome and Avast installed so it likely detected them before the download began.

I updated CCleaner on the computer in our club office yesterday and was offered Chrome, which I declined.
After reading this thread, I updated the computer I am using now and was was offered no unwanted software.
Why the difference?
