My computer is really running slow, I would appreciate some help, I have run Mel ware and found nothing, but a few weeks ago I was on the computer and a voice came on and told me not to shut down my computer, but I did anyway, and run Mel ware right away and found nothing, I can't open Firefox at all, so I changed my browser to google Crome, now I am having problems with it to. I keep getting a message saying Your connection is interrupted a network change was detected, Err network changed, after awhile it will come back on to my emails. I can't go any apple software update also. Judy could you please see if you can help me get my computer back to normal again. If I don't get back to you right away that means I have lost connection and can't get on.
Thank you.

Lots more information is needed. What does Apple have to do with this? Is this a Windows Computer? If so then most important is Operating system, antivirus program, Firefox version, Malwarebytes's version. Post that information first and then follow instructions below. You then must follow the steps given in our Preliminary Cleanup Steps to the letter. Post the logs noted right back here.

Judy I did send my results, I hope I did right, I tried my best. I must say after I cleaned up the AdwCleaner my computer is running faster for some reason, but still can't open Firefox. I hope this helps you out,

Where did you send the log files, I don't anything posted here? The log files will reveal useful information that Judy and others need to assist you in cleaning your computer.
Edit: Just noticed in another thread that you asked how to send log files. Follow the instructions given and post them in this thread.

This removes a portion of this reply and 4 other replies. I have left the analysis total to show how many useless files were found on the computer. The total is roughly 1.5 GB. totally useless files. Certainly enough to slow the computer. It is obvious that there has been no use of CCleaner or Disk Cleanup on the computer in a very long time and Internet and Firefox have incorrect settings for temporary files and cookies. I certainly hope that cleaning was done using CCleaner because, as the log shows "(Note: No files have been deleted yet)" If these are or were not deleted then using the program was a waste of time. With this number of files found it may take the program awhile to clean them all out but this MUST be done in order to help repair the speed of the computer. Judy

What program is this log from? Looks like CCleaner. We do NOT need a log from it. CCleaner only cleans out JUNK files and Temp files. It does NOT remove infections. Please have CCleaner remove everything found and then run the Malwarebytes' and AdwCleaner. Also have them both remove everything found.
We need logs from scans run with Malwarebytes' and AdwCleaner after they have finished cleaning.

Just as soon as I have a few free minutes I will post everything again. Thanks Linda Did you read what I said? Where did I say to re-run everything? If you do then we will have NO information because new scans will not show what was there on March 1. Please do as asked in this reply from this thread that you must NOT use anymore: Scan Results
In order to obtain this past Malwarebytes' log Please OPEN the Program. On the LEFT side click Reports. You will see a list of Scan logs. Please find the one done on March 1. Open it and Copy/Paste it HERE in THIS THREAD.
I say again, DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, run another scan, you must post the ORIGINAL LOGS from AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes' on March 1st.
ALSO; DID you CLEAN with CCleaner?
Unless you post all of this information we cannot do anything else.

Thank you for the logs. They both show that now there is no infection on your computer, at least for the portion of logs that you have posted. BUT you still have not posted a full AdwCleaner log. You keep cutting them off at Tasks. So I cannot guarantee that there is not infection files in the registry and browsers. Here is a portion of one of my logs. Please look at the portion I have posted in RED. That is the portion that you have never posted on any of the logs that you posted. You may think I am being silly but by not being careful and leaving off portions of scan logs helpers do not have full information. Each and every line of a scan log is vitally important and they MUST be seen by the helper. Not just me but any helper. Note what is listed in RED. ALL of that is missing from all of your AdwCleaner logs. They will be found on every single AdwCleaner log. Yours have all stopped after the *****[ Tasks ]***** heading. So there are at least seven lines of scan information missing + the AdwCleaner program information that appears at the bottom of the logs. Answer these questions in your next reply. Are you still having problems with Firefox? If so please explain them fully. Does it try to open but only shows the spinning circle or does nothing happen at all? Do you get an error message from Firefox? What version of Firefox do you have? You might try Refreshing Firefox back to Factory this very often will fix problems you are having with Firefox. Extensions and themes, website permissions, modified preferences, added search engines, DOM storage, security certificate and device settings, download actions, plugin settings, toolbar customization's, user styles and social features will be removed. You will NOT lose: Bookmarks Browsing and download history Passwords Open windows and tabs Cookies Web form auto-fill information Personal dictionary ALL of the above WILL remain. I would advise doing this if you are still having trouble with Firefox. Do it this way: Close all other browsers. Then Hold Down the Shift Key and Try to Open Firefox as you usually do. Before it opens you first should receive a small box with two option buttons. One says Start in Safe Mode (which means Firefox without any add-ons) and the other button says Refresh Firefox. This is the one you want to use to fix Firefox. left click attachments to view them. Attachments:

Judy Thank you so much for helping me out and I am sorry that I am so stupid on computers. I am glad you stuck with me and figured out so far that I have no virus. At the present time I do have firefox and it is working great. One more question can you tell me how to defrag my computer ? I am wanting to make sure everything is okay while you are helping me. I do use CCleaner every day and clean my computer. but I must not be doing something wrong as you said it didn't look like it had been cleaned for awhile. thanks again for all your help.

Linda Windows 10 computers defrag themselves automatically. You do not have to do it. You can check to be sure it is turned on and configured correctly by typing Defrag into the search box and when Defrag opens up make sure it is turn ON and set to work Weekly. Otherwise you don't have to do anything. If you want to do it manually you can do it right there by clicking the Optimmize button. I have had my Windows 10 for over two years and have never manually defragged. Right now it shows 0% fragmented. So it works just fine. It will show you the last date this was done. You must be doing something incorrectly for sure cause based on that log there is no way that CCleaner could have been run daily. Let me check on things and I will get back to you.

First of all, NOW your computer IS clean but until you ran Malwarebytes' and AdwCleaner it was not. Your scans found and removed 9 different malware files. Several of them very serious and likely the major cause of your problems. You had one that was a browser hijacker. It will do all kinds of things and eventually stop your browser from working at all. That is likely why Firefox stopped working. You had another one that was supposedly a driver updater and computer optimizer and this one you likely Chose to download yourself. These are Never needed. The others, the one that are labeled PUP.Optional.Legacy are ones that have not yet been classified by malware family but it is known that they do cause problems on a computer. These come onto the computer in various ways, sometimes from malware infested web sites or often they are bundled with other software that the user choses to download. This is when it is absolutely VITAL to download software only from the software developers web site and never from a 3rd party site. Second: the amount of "junk" files removed by CCleaner would not really be considered extraordinary for maybe once a week cleaning but daily cleaning? Way too much to clean for just one days use of the computer. The actual files from just the computer, not too bad, but the amount of files from the browsers say to me you do not have them set up correctly. I don't use Chrome so had to look up how to block 3rd party cookies, these are the cookies that are NOT from the site you are visiting but ones placed there by ads and such. To block these in Chrome do the following: On your computer, open Chrome. At the top right, click More More and then Settings. At the bottom, click Advanced. Under "Privacy and security," click Content settings. Click Cookies. Turn Allow sites to save and read cookie data on or off. Block cookies from other sites You can allow cookies from the site you visit, while blocking cookies from other sites that own ads or images on the webpage. To block these third-party cookies, turn on Block third-party cookies. Firefox: Go up to Tools, Options, Privacy & Security. Under History click the drop down arrow in the box next to Firefox will; choose Use custom settings for history. Then be sure that your settings are the same as shown in my Firefox attachment. Internet Explorer:Go to Internet Options, Privacy, Settings, Advanced. Be sure to Accept 1st party cookies and Block 3rd party cookies. Attachments:

Be sure to read my other two replies above. I have one more question about your use of CCleaner. You said you use it daily. I don't understand how you could have that much to clean if you use it daily. Is this how you use it? 1st. hit the Analyze button? 2nd. view what is found 3rd. Hit Run cleaner button If you don't hit that Run Cleaner button then the program is not cleaning. Attachments:

Thanks again for everything Judy, Linda B You're very welcome Linda. Happy to help. Don't forget to check your browser settings as I instructed on reply #13 because some of that malware came onto the computer via 3rd party cookies. Also I would suggest, if you don't have it yet, to install AdBlockPlus on Firefox. That will help with security issues too.
