I have not downloaded it yet as have been advised there were bugs in it. I have now been given bonus data so wondering if it is safe to download now. The data runs out on December 15th. I normally only have 1.5 GB a month so 25 GB is wonderful. Getting expensive getting a computer tech to do it for me.

The bugs that caused the problems for many folks with the earlier release of the update to Windows 10 that was stopped from auto update release previously have been fixed. Windows is now rolling out the new update, but it is very highly recommended that you not go to Windows Update to force a download of the update, but rather wait until Microsoft rolls out the auto update to your machine. They want to go slow this time and ask us all to be patient as the update is selectively rolled out in slow fashion to help Microsoft assure there are no problems this time..... Your Win 10 machine will tell you when your update is available or will tell you that it has downloaded the update and want your OK to restart your machine to start the installation of the update files or ask you to restart the machine to complete the installation ..... Since you have until Dec 15th to use or access your bonus data for the update then you still have several weeks for the update to be offered to you or for your machine to automatically download the update as Windows 10 now does...... *** see this thread in the Updates, Security and Scams section of this forum for more information on the version 1809 update to Windows 10: newworldtech.freeforums.net/thread/734/windows-october-update-released-today

Since the October Windows update version 1809 released again starting 11/13/18 is a cumulative update, the size would depend on your system (32 or 64 bit system) and what programs and previous updates you have on it.... KB4467708 ... As you are concerned about data management with your connection, you may find this article informative: www.itechtics.com/view-windows-updates-size-windows-10/The choice to use a 3rd party tool is of course your call.... since the update has been rolling out for over a week now you may or may not be in a position for your computer to be offered the update from Windows Update Service ....

My system is 64 bit. Cumulative update KB4467702 failed to install on the 19th & twice on 20.11.18 & has not appeared again when I click on check for updates. Only one is for my Canon printer & cannot get it to install at all. Did check out that article. Should I download that Mini tool?

That's your call on the tool.... I've never used or had need for such, but seemed to be appropriate for your circumstances. If you checked Windows update and weren't offered the KB4467708 (not KB4467702) package it likely is because the roll-out is not offered for your machine or area as yet by Microsoft. There is no hurry, it's not like you are going to be offered a bunch of outstanding programs or features with the incremental update.... But, it's your decision on the steps to go forward.

I agree with bigtoe 100%. I also have Windows 10, 64bit and have NOT been offered KB4467708 and am not worried about it in the least. It will come when it comes.
Everything bigtoe has stated about this update is absolutely true.
Don't stress yourself about this. Go about your normal business and when they are ready to release the update to your area then you will receive it.
About your Canon Printer update, is this coming directly FROM Canon or through the Windows Auto Update?
The only updates I take from Microsoft are Windows Updates. The one exception are updates for Adobe Flash that often are offered in conjunction with Windows Updates, I do take those.
I would only accept updates for your printer directly FROM Canon. Go to Canon and see what this update is for, if it is not a printer driver update then you probably do not need it because it likely is a software update and not something required for the printer to operate.
Check with Canon and see what THEY recommend.

If you still have your computer set as a metered machine you will need to reverse this to allow the updates to download.

Again thank u to u all for your replies. I have now turned the metered connection off for now. Judy not worried about update it's just that with the bonus 25 GB data my Telco gave me till the 15th Dec I had hoped I would be able to download before I go back to my 1.5 GB a month. Yes should have taken your advice ages ago & not updated to Win 10 but at the time was getting bonus night data. Not getting far with Canon but printer still working ok & don't use it much anyway these days.

Well you have 22 days before your data goes back to "normal" so just wait and see. As far as the Canon update, what Exactly does the information say it is? There has to be some sort of information with the notification.

Canon update coming via Windows Update but not saying exactly what it is, only the error number each time. On Canon website notice there is a driver update but saying Windows 10/10 Plus & full driver & software package but as don't have the October update gather not relevant yet. Printer has never been updated since it was bought about 3 years ago.
I notice I do not have info about my laptop etc added to bottom, how do I do that? Looked on my profile page but could not seem to find anything. Saves a lot of time if u have the relevant info when ever I need help.

Just looked at data using & notice it's over 508,462,434 bytes & this is the only page opened so something big is downloading but nothing showing up on the Update page. Slowed down a bit but as my signal is crap where we live it happens a lot.

You are not going to receive notification until download is complete and then you should get notice to install.
Do NOT take the Canon update via Windows but only take it from Canon itself. The Canon update would not be this large. What is the model of the Canon printer?

According to the Canon site the driver available was released 07/22/15 and is 49.79 MB. IF you bought the printer three years ago then it is doubtful that you need this driver since it is over 3 years old. It is likely this is the same one you already have. They probably are offering updated software which truthfully is rarely needed unless you have noticed some sort of problem with it. If this Canon software keeps giving an error then it may be because you don't need it.

Now saying 661,527,966 bytes So I would guess that this IS the Windows 10 update. Allow it to continue and then follow the prompts for installation that you likely will get. I would advise that you do nothing else at all on this computer until this is complete. The more you do the slower it will be so close out everything and let this update continue to download.
The Canon update you mentioned is the same one I found and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with this current Windows 10 update because, as noted, it was released in July of 2015 and it is not very big. Ignore it.

After nearly 9 hours running & still had not downloaded over 900MG my signal was so slow had to turn it off. I use my smart phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot & did not want to leave it running all night. have now been on 10 minutes & received is just over 9000 bytes so again a crap signal. Very windy so that may be effecting my signal.

Very windy so that may be effecting my signal. F.Y.I. wind does not usually affect a wi-fi signal at all unless you have some sort of very poorly anchored wi-fi antenna, rain sometimes can affect it but even then that is not really going to slow a signal that much because wi-fi signals are short range and usually generated indoors.
Can I ask if you actually have internet service to your home and if so do you have a router? If you don't then you can plug the ethernet cable directly into the computer and you wouldn't need a hot spot or wi-fi at all.
If so why do you need to use your smartphone? Doesn't that use up the battery quicker?

Ok thanks. As noted weather really is not going to affect your wi-fi signal except maybe in the case of rain or extremely heavy cloud cover. Can I ask how much trouble did you have getting the previous large upgrades like Windows 10 version 1709 in October 2017 or the next one Windows 10 version 1803 this past April?

Not sure but think my computer guy did them for me. I did a big one in August 2017 when we were staying at my brother's place interstate & he has NBN fast internet. The smaller updates I am able to do using the 1.5GB from my husbands phone as he has no interest in computers etc. I downloaded a Feature Update to 1803 last week plus a few others but the Malicious software removal failed KB890830 & the Cumulative update KB4467702 failed three times. The update has not tried to download again. If by the 13th or 14th Dec should I try to download myself late at night?

Personally, I would not try to download this yourself. This update is still not without bugs. I don't know if they apply to your computer or not but there have been two more problems found: 1. On November 21st Then this one was written about yesterday on the Paul Thurrott web site: Windows 10 Version 1809 Breaks Windows Media PlayerSince you know the other large updates have been installed elsewhere where connections were stable and fast then I would do that again. This IS a very large update and even though some folks have received it without problems if I were in your shoes I would not take the chance of manually trying to get it on your own. Either take it to your computer tech to do it or elsewhere that has a good, stable and much faster internet connection. Lack of speed is certainly a key in download problems you are having. Pushing to get the update using the cellphone hot spot just because you have a temporary data increase is really not to your advantage. As you have found, speed is also important and you just don't have enough to get an update this large. Your previous attempts show that. You said running 9 hours you still had not received even 1 GB and this update is roughly between 3.5 and 4GB. You are looking at a minimum of 36 straight hours in order to get it at your speeds.
Please note what Microsoft says as to WHY they use a controlled roll-out and recommend that users WAIT to receive the updates via automatic updating; By doing things this way MS is protecting their users and of course themselves. This has been their recommendation since the release of Windows 10 and they have been very vocal about this. If users choose to ignore this continuing recommendation then many times they are "on their own" if they have major problems after manually updating the operating system. If problems result after the automatic update users will generally receive assistance directly from MS to correct the problems. But if you manually update when they very specifically state there have been problems and, as in this case, there are Still problems then if something bad develops you are likely on your own in correcting the problem without their help.
There are actually 5 Upgrade Blocks in place including that one for the Intel Audio driver issue for computers running with some Known issues. MS is working to correct all of these problems by the end of November. They had better hurry.
At this time there is no block in place concerning the problem with Windows Media Player.
I have not yet been offered nor have I received the update possibly because I have an Intel Graphics card, though I do NOT have the questionable driver update for that card but MS may see it as a possibility of the update causing problems and they have blocked it, I am content to wait until the Windows 10 Update 1809 is automatically offered to me.
EDIT: I also found information about your failed update, KB4467702. Many, many people have had problems with this update and most often it has been due to a poor internet connection speed.
According to MS: Don't worry about it.

The latest updates are available for download here:
Perhaps someone with a faster internet connection could download the one you need to a thumb drive which you could then use. This link explains how to do it.
